30 But David went up the ascent of the Mount of Olives, weeping as he went, barefoot and with his head covered. And all the people who were with him covered their heads, and they went up, weeping as they went. 31 And it was told David, “Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.” And David said, “O Lord, please turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.”
People may see that this is a very simple passage. A passage that states David just went up to some mountain, called Mount of Olives and started to weep and bow before God. But what is the significance here? Do we remember that He is a King and his people went up with Him? We do not experience it thats why we just read with a grain of salt. A grain of Salt. Can you imagine our president, Singapore president, kneel down infront of God's altar crying and weeping? I cant imagine that after seeing Him in his power suit walking around with many body guards and his merz and his huge house.... The same man who is treated with high regard and esteem kneeling and bowing and crying before God? Imagine if he came to our church and really knelt towards God beside you. Do you think it is odd. Yes it is. We would say that because we recognize that he is a man of power. He can kneel before God unashamed, so can we. When we grow old and prideful. We just have to remember if David the king can humble himself, so can we.
