David and Jonathan

Then David fled from Naioth at Ramah and went to Jonathan and asked, “What have I done? What is my crime? How have I wronged your father, that he is trying to kill me?” “Never!” Jonathan replied. “You are not going to die! Look, my father doesn’t do anything, great or small, without letting me know. Why would he hide this from me? It isn’t so!” But David took an oath and said, “Your father knows very well that I have found favor in your eyes, and he has said to himself, ‘Jonathan must not know this or he will be grieved.’ Yet as surely as the Lord lives and as you live, there is only a step between me and death.” Jonathan said to David, “Whatever you want me to do, I’ll do for you.” (1 Samuel 20:1-4 NIV)

It's funny to know more than what David and Jonathan know! We know that David is the next king and at this moment Jonathan is the son of the king. And what we see here are that they are good friends. I think if I were Jonathan, I would be tempted to kill David because he seems all too powerful and it is inline with what my dad(the king) is trying to do! But God led them into an awesome brotherly relationship. Only God can lead us into such situation! This really tells me that regardless who you are, you must have some one accountable, like David to Jonathan and Jonathan to David! They are in brotherly love with one another! We all need this kind of relationships. We need people to be accountable to and people to guide us through life using God's words. I can imagine that without this relationship, David would probably be killed by Saul by this time. But it was this relationship that prevented that!

I was talking to my mom and meditating on this verse on

Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. (1 Corinthians 6:19, 20 NIV)

This verse is specifically on sexual immorality. But it can be applied else where. God mentioned that our bodies are temples and not to be defiled by one's sexual desires but it also mean that we should not defile it in any other way! Including food and sleep. Maintain and take care of this temple that God has given us in all ways!
