Idols?

Why do the nations say,
    “Where is their God?”
Our God is in heaven;
    he does whatever pleases him.
But their idols are silver and gold,
    made by human hands.
They have mouths, but cannot speak,
    eyes, but cannot see.
They have ears, but cannot hear,
    noses, but cannot smell.
They have hands, but cannot feel,
    feet, but cannot walk,
    nor can they utter a sound with their throats.
Those who make them will be like them,
    and so will all who trust in them.

Idols have mouths but cannot speak. Idols have ears, hands. But today idols have none of these. They do not have such things with them. They do not have any of these luxuries. But they have one thing in common. That is our captivation and our attention. Whether it is career, money or anything. That god has our captivation. We lust for more, we want more of it. Today, it does not matter if they have nose mouth or anything. They have captivated us. They have ruled over us. They have a foot hold on our lives. Every man has one, the question is what is it? The battle never ends too. We constantly fight this battle in this world. Many of our idols and gods is money. We worship money. That is mainly attributed to our meritocratic society. We want to always go to the next highest level. What good can come out of it? Are we really willing to trade our relationship with God for something like money? One that can last eternity compared to one who can only last a life-time? Every single day we have to check our hearts, is our hearts still with God?
