² “The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. ³ So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.

Being seated in Moses seat,What I think is that the Pharisees now see themselves as sort of 'human rulers' However Jesus said that they MUST obey what the Pharisees tell them to do however why did he then say not to be like them?

It is because the Pharisees themselves do not bother to take the responsibility but yet place them on others to do the job.It is also like because God told the Pharisees to do something, they use this power to make themselves look good.

In summary, whatever God has given, use it for it's intended purpose and righteousness!
